    3 Poems | Sybil Journal

Excerpt of I'm watching a woman taxidermy her pet upcoming in Sybil Journal:

"you the color (and size) (and shape) of a butterball
you, who would be college graduate age by now
we all know you'd never leave home
known on the streets for your complete lack of scare-ability
a friend to the cats and afraid of the lizards
and bats that tried to befriend you
incapable of protecting us, capable only of love
     i've known only with you"

Excerpt of A footnote to the childhood dream of becoming upcoming in Sybil Journal:

"I want to say something about being and not seeing, about what’s there also
being here. Maybe something about our origins. Intertwined. Keratin in my
hair, same as your filter feeder mustache. We are all eating, all hunting.
Something about we are more than our forms and less than the world that holds
them. And that I don’t have words to describe you"

Excerpt of I was asked to write a sex poem but I wrote about you upcoming in Sybil Journal:

"the curvature of the bellymoon on your 8 month pregnant body
how panic ripples through us today
over what we know we’ll laugh about tomorrow
how we drink from the same cup and still fill each other up
how we have boundaries for others, and only time for each other"
